Why Group Health
Coverage That Works for Your Whole Team
From a 2-person startup to a 200-person company, the right group health plan is a competitive advantage.
Attract Top Talent
Health benefits are consistently ranked as the #1 factor job seekers consider. A strong plan helps you compete with larger employers.
Multiple Plan Designs
HMO, PPO, and HDHP options give your employees flexibility while letting you control premium costs and contribution levels.
Tax Advantages
Employer premium contributions are generally tax-deductible, and employees pay their share pre-tax — reducing payroll taxes for both sides.
Healthier, More Productive Teams
Employees with access to regular care take fewer sick days and are more engaged. Good benefits are good business.
Dental & Vision Bundling
Add dental and vision coverage to round out your benefits package — often at a significant discount when bundled with medical.
Renewal Support Every Year
We don't disappear after enrollment. We review your plan at renewal, shop alternatives, and make sure you're not overpaying year after year.
Tax-Advantaged Benefits
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) Explained
Pair a High-Deductible Health Plan with an HSA and give your team a powerful, tax-free way to save for healthcare — while reducing costs for everyone.
What Is an HSA?
A Health Savings Account is a tax-advantaged savings account available to employees enrolled in a qualifying High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Funds deposited into an HSA are never taxed — not when contributed, not when they grow, and not when they're spent on qualified medical expenses.
Unlike a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), HSA funds roll over year after year with no "use it or lose it" penalty. Employees can build a meaningful healthcare nest egg over time — and the account belongs to them, even if they change jobs.
For 2025, the IRS contribution limits are $4,300 for individual coverage and $8,550 for family coverage. Employees age 55+ can contribute an additional $1,000 catch-up contribution.
Triple Tax Advantage
Contributions are pre-tax, growth is tax-free, and withdrawals for qualified expenses are never taxed.
Rolls Over Every Year
Unused funds carry forward indefinitely — no forfeitures, no deadlines, no pressure to spend.
Portable Account
The HSA belongs to the employee, not the employer. It travels with them if they change jobs or retire.
Broad Qualified Expenses
Covers deductibles, copays, prescriptions, dental, vision, mental health, and hundreds of other eligible costs.
Benefits for Employers
- Lower premiums — HDHPs cost significantly less than PPOs or HMOs, reducing your monthly contribution.
- Employer HSA contributions are tax-deductible as a business expense.
- Employer contributions are exempt from payroll taxes (FICA), saving 7.65% on every dollar contributed.
- Offering an HSA-eligible plan is a competitive differentiator for recruiting and retention.
- Employees with HSAs tend to be more cost-conscious healthcare consumers, which can reduce overall plan utilization.
- Simple administration — most HSA custodians handle account setup and compliance reporting.
Benefits for Employees
- Pre-tax contributions reduce taxable income — a $3,000 HSA contribution can save $750+ in federal taxes for a mid-income earner.
- Funds grow tax-free through interest or investment options offered by the HSA custodian.
- Withdrawals for qualified medical expenses are completely tax-free at any age.
- After age 65, funds can be withdrawn for any purpose (taxed as ordinary income, like a traditional IRA).
- No "use it or lose it" — unused balances roll over and compound year after year.
- The account is fully portable — it stays with the employee regardless of employer changes.
HSA vs. FSA: Key Differences
| Feature | HSA | FSA |
|---|---|---|
| Plan requirement | Must be enrolled in an HDHP | Any health plan |
| Rollover | Unlimited — rolls over every year | Use it or lose it (up to $640 grace) |
| Portability | Fully portable — yours to keep | Employer-owned, lost on job change |
| Investment options | Yes — can invest in mutual funds | No investment options |
| Contribution limit (2025) | $4,300 individual / $8,550 family | $3,300 (employer may limit lower) |
| Who can contribute | Employee and/or employer | Employee and/or employer |
| Tax treatment | Triple tax-free | Pre-tax contributions only |
Independent vs. Captive
Why an Independent Broker Makes a Difference
When it comes to group health, having someone in your corner — not the carrier's corner — matters.
| Feature | RightQuote (Independent) | Captive / Direct |
|---|---|---|
| Carrier options | Shops multiple carriers for best fit | Locked into one carrier's plans |
| Plan design guidance | Tailored to your workforce and budget | Limited to available product tiers |
| Renewal advocacy | Re-shops every year on your behalf | Auto-renews at whatever rate is offered |
| Employee support | Helps employees understand and use benefits | Directs employees to carrier call centers |
| Cost transparency | Full disclosure of commissions and fees | Compensation structure often unclear |
| ACA compliance guidance | Proactive guidance on employer mandates | Compliance is your problem to manage |
